Artist Statement

The objects I create are carriers of stories. I build these anecdotes into the objects through tedious and repetitive processes; often bringing smaller components together into larger forms. These processes, most recently bead weaving and tatting, allow me to engage with these objects personally for extended periods of time. Stories evolve along the process of crafting the object, recording life milestones, and recalling events such as new apartments, or worldwide travels. The narratives are told orally when the object is presented, and repeated with nearly every encounter. Engaging and touching the objects creates intimate moments of understanding the origin and sentimentality within. These objects, often wearables, go out into the world as future heirlooms. They are to be interacted with often, hopefully daily.
